Thank you for supporting the Dada Waafrika program at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens!
At The Living Desert, our volunteers are helping remove one of the biggest barriers keeping girls in South Africa out of school: access to feminine hygiene products.
Through Dada Waafrika, a volunteer-led project founded by volunteer Shanna Winters, teams are hand-sewing reusable “dignity kits” that include pads, liners, and bags that make it possible for girls to stay in class. Hundreds of kits have already been made, and they’re delivered village-by-village by the Black Mambas, the all-female anti-poaching rangers we partner with in South Africa.
Dada Waafrika is funded entirely by donations, materials, and volunteer hands, proving that small acts of compassion can spark powerful change. Donate below to change a life.
